Carrying Water

Some Gypsy families lived in a camp some distance from my farm, they did not have access to any water so women used to come to the farm throughout the day to pump water from the hand pump and carry it back on their heads.

This is a nice photograph and shows the two ladies who seem a little happy that you took their picture. It reminds me that we pumped water for years but didn't have to carry it except from outside to inside.

It always amazes me that people can carry things like this. I would be parched most of the time!
Interesting shot!

Interesting photo, the water is very important and everyone is obliged to preserve it

It always amazes me to see women carrying heavy loads like this on their heads. Can't imagine it's healthy for the spine.
