Energy Crisis

A residential street in total darkness. Pakistan generates most of its electricity from Hydro projects, An increase in consumption because of summer and a shortage of water due to lack of rain has brough the electric generation capacity of Pakistan to a minimum, thus we are going through 6 Hours of scheduled "Load Shedding" every day, meaning no electricity 6 hours of the Day.

It seems empty without life.

That must be very difficult; to be without power for six hours. We need rain here too; I hope you get some soon.

You have my total sympathy. Here in Athens the electricity workers (along with everyone else) have been on strike and going without electricity for a couple of hours every day has been driving me crazy so i cant even begin to imagine what its like to go without for 6 hours every day!

I hope the situation improves quickly.

The photo is really atmospheric! :)

Your photos is wonderful but your problemd of electricity and drought are surely difficult.
In Barcelona, the problem of drought is so deep that boats will bring water there from Marseille.
I hope it rains soon...

Thanks for all your comments, its a "normal" situation in Pakistan, we'v had this since I can remember, its gotten a little worse, but its part of living in Pakistan, an aspect of our daily life.

Six hours! Hopefully it's when most residents are asleep?

Josy, Right now its during the day when everyone is awake and energ is being used, as the weather gets hotter its going to be during the night coz thats the time most air conditioners are on.

I think now is good time to have a portable generator in this circumstances. I like those streak of light from automobiles or motorcycles in your picture.

You have a confidence with the camera, DR. Thanks for telling the story so well in the picture. It's quiet and almost sinister.

That's really dark, but I guess if folks lived without electric light for centuries, they can get by now. But I imagine it's gotta be tough! No computer power for six hours?
